Book Review: Calvary Road

I don’t know what it is, but I love conversion stories. There is something so beautiful in seeing how God works in peoples’ lives, drawing them closer to Him.

Obviously, I was thrilled when I was asked to review Calvary Road: One Man’s Journey from Judaism to Calvary by Marty Barrack.

Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book for free in exchange for my honest review.

Overall, I thought this was a fantastic book and was probably my favorite that I’ve read this year. The book has fascinating content. I loved learning about the beautiful connections between Catholicism to our Jewish roots. I was so impressed, and I loved that this memoir challenged me to learn more. He shared these links in an interesting way without being too forceful. There were also miracles shared, which were a lovely addition. The tone was also great; it felt like a casual conversation with a friend.

I had a few minor issues with the book like the timeline getting a little jumbled or him occasionally getting lost in the weeds.

That being said, I think this was a fantastic book, and I highly recommend it to Catholics and Jews alike.
