Giveaway from The Little Flower Workshop

One of the best things about being a Catholic blogger is connecting with other Catholics. I’ve been fortunate enough to “meet” some amazing bloggers and artisans. I love supporting these wonderful people, and I am really excited to team up with Lauren of The Little Flower Workshop to do Stumbling Toward Sainthood’s first ever giveaway! Before I get into the details of how you can win this handmade keychain featuring a quote from St. Therese of Lisieux, I want to talk about one of the products I purchased from her shop and let Lauren tell you more about herself.

My Experience

I don’t wear jewelry all that often because it is a safety concern at work, but when I get ready for events outside of work, I’ve been wanting some more pieces to choose from that reflect my faith. This Saint Faustina necklace caught my eye right off the bat. The Divine Mercy chaplet is one of my favorite prayers, and her diary has been sitting on my “to read” list after pulling me in after reading only a few pages.

After receiving the necklace impressively fast, I was pleasantly surprised to find this pretty necklace in a pouch and accompanied with a handwritten note.

The pendant is the perfect size: big enough that the image is clear without being gaudy, and the length is just right. I love that the necklace has a vinatge-y look while maintaining a modern appeal.

I am very happy with my purchase and am thrilled that one of you will get an awesome piece from The Little Flower Workshop through our giveaway.

Lauren and The Little Flower Workshop

Hi folks! So excited to be here with Kate today.

I love creating, and love being able to share the Faith with others. My story is simple, we are a family of converts. Neither my husband nor I were Catholic, we converted together after we were married, and all of our children (8 on Earth, 1 in Heaven) have been “cradle Catholics” as they say. I started Little Flower while pregnant with our 8th child in 2016, and have been trying my best to help bring the Saints into people’s lives since then.

What led you to start The Little Flower Workshop?

It started with my husband really. I was wanting to make myself a piece of jewelry, and when I showed him what I was looking at doing, we started talking about using Saint images. And after a few more talks, I decided to open up shop. Originally I only offered the Saint pendants and keychains, but I love all crafts, so I decided to include more items in the shop.

What is your favorite thing to make?

Oh gosh, this is hard. I love it all. I love creating in general. Sewing has always been my first craft love, and I adore making clothing for myself and my children. It would be too hard to choose just one, I love them all. My favorite thing is when someone finds what they love. A saint they have a special connection with, a custom gift for someone they love, a toy for their Godchild. Whatever makes them happy, that’s my favorite thing.

How did you choose the name?

The day I decided to try and make it a business, it seemed fairly obvious that this was my “little way”, much like St. Therese had mentioned. Finding little ways to spread joy, little ways to be faithful, little ways to show love. So it seemed obvious that I should use that imagery in my name somewhere.

How do you balance your faith and being a Catholic artisan?

Like balancing anything, it takes practice. First rule has always been no work on Sunday. That applies to the household as well, so it’s easier for me to manage that in my work as well. Even though I feel like this work, creating things, is not really work, I try to stick to a no work rule. Crafting for myself and my family can be done on Sunday, but anything for the shop is off limits. While I do offer some non Catholic specific items, I also am very aware and cautious to not produce anything that would be in opposition to the Faith.  Mostly I try and think of ways to bring the Faith into people’s lives. I love creating for children, an often left out group with faith based items; I love creating things that are not “typical” religious items.
